1980 coming back from Swansea away, straight to Upton park about midnight, queued up all night for semi final tickets, it was freezing, we lit a fire with many others outside the main gates to keep warm.

Doing the conga down green street after coming back from Wembley for 1980 cup final, it was a massive street party with old ladies with pots and pans making as much noise as possible, then into the Boleyn pub seeing my mum dancing on a table singing Liam Brady is a wanker. Priceless.

No buses for ages then 4 or 5 buses all coming along at once. Slimey burgers and fried onions

Gank - was thinking that myself

Remember an Arsenal game as a pup, must of been about 14, older lad said the Arse were mobbed up at the station. about 100 early curlies marched up there full of it, got there and there were 'big lads' about - even better

Then a group of about 25 proper lads down in the market started chanting Arsenal, Arsenal and there were no big lads up front - never seen so many paper boys scarper so quick

How they took the piss, those older West Ham chanting Arsenal, for us running, ears were clipped, mine included

Lesson learned for later

Constantly baffled by the drivers who decide that driving down Green St at 5pm is a good idea

As a few have mentioned Bobby Moore's shop. Still remember the queues to get in to ogle Tina when it first opened,

The rosette and scarf sellers.

The mad dash to get to the station before the masses and getting an early train, then getting home to get the late edition of the Evening Standard for the Saturday football results (barring the late kick offs)

The toy shop opposite the station and getting the west ham home and away subbuteo teams. They must be close on 40 - 45 years old now - still got them in the original subbuteo box.

I think some of the people who have posted on this thread have confused Green Street with Barking Road.

A bloody big fight between the denizens of the Duke of Edinburgh and the local muslim lads outside Burger king on Plashet Grove because one of the denizens had insulted a muslim girl who worked there, who told her brother, who cllected a mob, who attacked the Duke, who fought back up and down Green St and Plashet

"Frequently running from the station to the ground to get in with minutes to spare (occasionally failing and missing the first 5 minutes)."

I still do this if I hang round the boozers in Central London too long on a weeknight. Won't miss getting on at West Ham thinking you've got loads of time then sat outside Upton Park for ages cause the train in front is still at the platform!

Being 94th in a queue for the last 90 tickets for the 1980 final.

Frequently running from the station to the ground to get in with minutes to spare (occasionally failing and missing the first 5 minutes).

One of the worst meals of my life from a KFC (could have been an imitator - can't remember now).

Queuing to get into the station after matches, wondering how people had the front to push in.

And the don't kill your wife sign.

Parking a car and paying a kid 6d to watch over it. Buying a paper, as I left the ground, 'Star, News, Standard, all the half times'
